Meet Carley Grimes!

When asked what motivated her to begin volunteering for us, Carley said, "Our son is a cancer survivor and the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Children's Hospital in Aurora was a godsend to us. I will never forget the kind volunteers that tried to make sure my husband and I were eating and taking care of ourselves while Stevie was sick. When I found out there was a need at RMHCSC, I jumped at the opportunity to pay it forward!"

"When Stevie was declared cured of cancer, I became very honed in on the mantra, 'Do what you can with what you have where you are'." With that in mind, Carley started volunteering for us in June of 2015. This Colorado native is also active as Treasurer of Skyway Elementary's PTO, volunteers with Care & Share monthly, as well as working with Colorado Springs Utilities Community Focus Fund. "I love the House. It's by far my favorite volunteer opportunity!"

Stevie has accompanied his mom for a few cleaning shifts this summer. At the end of his first volunteer shift, Carley says she saw in his face the same satisfaction and warm feelings she gets every time she's in the House. "We get way more from our time here in return for some small chores. I may never be done paying it forward for the second chance I got with my little guy, and I am honored to have the chance to do that paying at the Ronald McDonald House."

Carley, it is we who are honored by your generous heart and unselfish spirit. We are thrilled about Stevie's recovery and passionately celebrate with you! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you do for our charity and families!
