Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado

August 11th, 2009 was a beautiful summer day. RMHC Board and Staff were joined by 13 worthy young people at the Penrose House to receive scholarships for furthering their education. The grounds were stunning, including a young buck who lingered as we walked through the garden to the reception.

In the last decade, RMHC has awarded over $250,000 to the the deserving youth in the Pikes Peak Region who are pursuing higher learning. Many are the first in their families to attend college.

RMHC was honored to give two $3,000 scholarships, four $2,000 scholarships, six $1,000 scholarships and one $500 scholarship to four young men and nine young women. They represented Conejos, Pueblo, Baca, El Paso, Las Animas, Otero, Custer and Teller Counties.

The students fields of study were Biology, Graphic Art Design, Business Management, Interior Design, Aero Space Engineer, Computer Engineering, Elementary Education, Human Resource Director, Pre-Med, Journalism, Physics, Political Science, and Pre-Dentistry.
